As our Estimator/Purchaser, you'll play a critical early role in shaping each custom home from the ground up. This hybrid position combines cost estimating, trade/vendor coordination, and material purchasing, giving you ownership of both numbers and relationships. You'll work closely with the founder, head of construction, and field supers, helping us balance budget accuracy with design intent, every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze plans and specifications to develop detailed cost estimates for custom residential builds
• Source and solicit bids from subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partners
• Prepare scopes of work and assist in contract negotiation
• Manage material takeoffs and purchasing to align with project timelines and budgets
• Identify value-engineering opportunities and maintain cost control throughout the project life cycle
• Collaborate closely with design, field, and client-facing teams to ensure alignment
• Maintain up-to-date cost databases and vendor relationships
• Monitor construction market trends, pricing, and availability

Qualifications

• 3 or more years of residential construction estimating and/or purchasing experience (custom home experience strongly preferred)
• Proficiency in construction takeoff software, spreadsheets, and general tech tools
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and sequencing
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
• Ability to balance speed with accuracy and work proactively in a start-up environment
• Experience working in California residential markets is a plus
• Spanish/English bilingual preferred but not required
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Compensation & Benefits

• Full time position
• Competitive salary range at  $80,000 to $110,000 per year, based on experience.

• Flexible hybrid schedule (office presence in Altadena will be needed periodically)
